Hello Family and Friends!
Today many people will celebrate the 4th of July in a traditional manner by having a backyard cookout or gathering in parks or community spaces with food, refreshments and family/friends gatherings.
We celebrate with traditions of burgers and hotdogs, french fries, potato salad, BBQ chicken, ribs, pies, cookies, soda, alcohol maybe ok, you get the picture. But what I want you to think about as many more of us are doing and that is thinking about our health and taking action towards health. I know, I know you say you think about it all the time, and you just want a break and enjoy the 4th of July without thinking about that, but give me a few minutes here and let me just encourage you about ADDING more healthy colors and foods that bring about health, I’m not asking you to eliminate anything today (but if you do that is great)!
I’m not asking you to get rid of the foods we know that aren’t healthy and that we don’t eat every single day, but I will do that for my clients, I’m asking you to ADD-IN more (lots more if you can) of the fresh beautiful greens (lettuce, broccoli, arugula, dandelions, swiss chard, kale and all the different species of these kinds); add more blueberries, raspberries, peaches, mangos, bananas star fruit, dragon fruit etc.) fresh whole raw fruits and veggies and make this a time where you are eating more of them, yes for your health!
We expect only the best when we shop for various things in our life, when we want luxury optional items or furniture, a better car and its options, clothing, places to eat out at, spouses and partners in life we often have an internal list of things we will accept from others and things we don’t. However, sometimes we put less effort in that of which we consume for health, we think less of what is really considered food and how it is metabolizing in our own bodies or not, and not all the time are we looking at our food consumption and saying “only the best shall I consume or fast until I can”. I know I have been there and struggle at times as well. It isn’t easy, but if you can be the one light that brings these whole fresh raw (organic) fruits and vegetables to the cookout or if you are the host having them available and nicely spread on your table, you would be surprised how well appreciated they are by the people that have either various allergies, and those who have just started learning how to “eat better to live without dis-ease”, or trying stay on their new found path of eating healthier. You don’t have to say a word…just ADD more of them in!
To Your Best Health
Happy 4th!
