Experience

Early Stages

Like many of us I started off with only knowing about the traditional American diet.  Being an athlete since grade school and throughout college helped me to stay fit and slender.  Health was always in the back and forefront of my life.  Then later in life as more responsibilities impacted me (stress from trying to balance work, family, divorces, school, aging process, and health) it became more difficult to maintain my health. I had noticed that it wasn’t as easy and held myself back.   In my continuous search for my best health I reached back to the legacy from my father of Caribbean fresh foods, fruits and vegetables, and natural health and I knew I had to realign my personal priorities.  Thus, I began again my search for true health and to hold myself accountable.

Career Start

Towards the latter part of my doctoral studies my dissertation mentor and friend thought I was crazy for wanting to take a few days off (8 to be exact) just before my oral defense and go to the FoodnSport Retreat in the beautiful valley of Sedro Wooley, Washington State.  I had become frustrated with the traditional medical system when I had developed an autoimmune disease from work, school and general life stressors.  I needed to look at alternative holistic methods and thus I put me first.  Since that first eye opening retreat, I’ve attended 3 women’s health retreats and began to make the connection between the three major health modalities (mindset, nourishment, movement, I call them MNM.  Through the early age and surprising transitions of my mother, my stepmother, brother and seeing my father transition at a much later age but all within a short period of time of each other, I knew I needed mental health counseling to continue to move forward.  These experiences, along with a strong desire to activate the knowledge of the healing power of natural holistic healthy living is what largely contributes to me wanting to share how a personalized strategy to a more healthy and natural lifestyle with you.
